A garment that strengthens EU textile circularity & interregional collaboration.
RegioGreenTex is a project promoting the collaboration in research and development for the textile industry. The circular garment is a testament to that cooperation.
A new blueprint for circular fashion.
As a part of the RegioGreenTex initiative, this project focused on applying circular economy principles in the textile industry. The project aims to create a garment made from recycled fibers, using both mechanical and chemical recycling methods, demonstrating that sustainable textile production is achievable.
It saught to foster collaboration among research centers, small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), to establish a value circle centered on sustainability and innovation.

The main goal of the project was to foster interregional collaboration within the EU but also to ensure full transparency and traceability. Find out more about the journey that the garment took from start to finish.
Quest: Context based design & Strategy
Bringing a new concept and a range of partners to the table requires coordination and strategy before the process starts.
CITEVE & RISE: Research & Development
Can we develop a yarn combining mechanically and chemically recycled fibers? Research partners CITEVE and RISE were key enablers in making this happen.
Sasia & SaXcell: Recycling
Starting at the end where textiles become waste, Sasia and SaXcell transform textile waste into reusable raw materials.
DBT Fibre: Carding
Fibers are carded into long, soft slivers – long, loose, untwisted strand of fibers that are uniform in thickness and ready for further drawing and spinning.
Textile de la Thiérache: Spinning
Fibers are spun into yarns in a continuous process, with automated systems detecting breakage and repairing the yarn on the spot to maintain quality and efficiency.
Tintex: Knitting
The yarn is knitted into a high quality fabric that is both innovative, smooth and well-structured. It is washed and treated before it moves on.
Katty Fashion: Manufacturing
Time to make a garment out of this. The fabrics are cut, sewed, and assembled to ensure the right pattern, fit, and style at the end.
Officina 39: Dyeing
Here we are. The final step of the process. Our garment is now ready to be dyed with a custom dye within a waterless post-treatment.
